Oak

Oak is a very hard and robust wood, is considered exceptionally solid, and is highly popular for that very reason. The roughly 400 different species can be divided into three groups: white oaks (Europe), red oaks, and evergreen oaks. The characteristic rays of the oak — known as “mirrors” — come into their own beautifully once the wood has been crafted into a table.

Hard, robust and popular

Oak leaves are elongated, with two to five lobes along their profile. In summer they are a rich green. The tree’s fruits are acorns around 3 cm long, capped at the top by the cupule. Oaks grow on rather poor, sandy soils at altitudes of up to 1,500 m.
